Our new Allen & Heath SQ5 has landed at Valcato Studios, and it’s the first step in a major investment in our audio inventory. A new Martin Audio PA system and amp racks will follow.
Why now
Our events are getting bigger. Over the last year we’ve moved into larger venues, multi-stage festivals and more outdoor work, and our clients increasingly want one team to handle the whole show, sound included. Until now, that often meant bringing in hired audio and working it into our setup. Now we’re building our own.
Why the SQ5
We wanted a desk we could rely on for years, not just for the next season. The SQ5 gives us 48 input channels at 96kHz, a fast touchscreen workflow that any engineer can pick up quickly, and room to expand with remote stageboxes as our setups get bigger. It’s also well supported in the UK, so a fault on show day doesn’t stop the show.
What’s next
The SQ5 is the platform the rest of the audio inventory will be built around. The Martin Audio system will give us festival-ready, properly engineered sound we own and know inside out, from a corporate awards night in a ballroom to an outdoor stage in a town centre.
